A Speech Delay is Caused by a Lack of Being Able to Perceive All of the Frequencies of Sound. If You Retrain the Ears to Listen, the Child's Speech Will Improve

You may not realize it, but sound plays an important part in how healthy you are. Certain frequencies can lift you up and energize you, while others can make you tired, depressed, un-motivated and trasport you into illness. How efficiently and effectively we listen is important to our health

and well-being. For children with developomental delays, their ears are not capturing certain frequencies that are connected to different brain and body functions. If we train their ears and brain to pick up those missing frequencies, we can enhance their listening, teach them new skills and they can become better learners. When you listen better, you learn better!

Three frequency zones divide the audible spectrum that we use in auditory training. They are referred to as:

(1) the Foundation Zone,
(2) the Communication Zone; and
(3) the Imagination Zone

at zones

The Foundation zone encompasses low frequencies from about 20Hz -750/1000 Hz. This is considered the zone that works on the body and corresponds to the functions of the vestibular system and sensory integration.

The Communication zone encompasses middle frequencies of approximately 750/1000Hz-4000 Hz. These frequencies are the “English” language speaking frequencies and work the speech and language, attention, focus, concentration and memory.

The Imagination zone is the high frequencies above about 4000 Hz. These frequencies work the functions of energizing the brain, imagination, imaginary play, creativity, spatial reasoning, motor planning as well as humor and spirituality.

Lollipop Notes

For children with Autism and special needs, it's all about the health of their ears. They don't always capture all of the frequencies of the audible spectrum that enable them to listen and learn. Lollipop Listening Therapy® will transport the child through the sound spectrum to give them that solid foundation to their body, enhance their communication and improve their imagination, motor planning and other high functioning skills.
